Hot or Not: Rating the best and worst dramas of 2020

    0

The Pakistani Media Industry is producing visual content on a regular basis. While most of it gets appreciated and an increase in fan following, the truth is, others don’t. Every year, a bunch of drama serials perform really well, get good ratings and become the talk of the town. However, some dramas totally fail to portray the real essence of the topic.

This year I am going to rate all dramas from 2020 in a list of Hot or Not! Checkout which dramas stomped the yard and which ones didn’t make the cut.

    The Hot List

    Kashf

    Rating: 4.8/5
Cast: Hira Mani, Junaid Khan, Waseem Abbas.

Kashf shows a story beyond the typical saas, bahu and husband feuds. Interestingly, Hum TV has produced a drama about a girl who can see everyone’s future in her dreams. While Kashf helps the masses take the right decisions based on her dreams, on the other hand, her sister teams up with her enemies to take her down.

    Zebaish

    Rating: 4.5/5
Cast: Zara Noor Abbas, Bushra Ansari, Asad Siddiqui

Zebaish reveals a clash of fame, fortune, and a dark side. Significantly there are two different worlds in the drama. Both show a visually pleasing side. Moreover, twists and turns make it interesting to watch.

    Muhabbat Tujhe Alvida

    Rating: 4.3/5
Cast: Zahid Ahmed, Sonya Hussain, Mansha Pasha

This drama series is based on a middle-class, happy couple. Unfortunately, greed for money and status takeover the wife, and their happily married life faces the test of time. Zahid Ahmed forcefully opts for a second marriage by his first wife. What happens next should be watched on the screens.

    Saraab

    Rating: 4.5/5
Cast: Sonya Hussain, Sami Khan, Farida Shabbir

Again, this drama serial discusses a very important social topic that most of us either ignore or misunderstand. Apparently, Saraab shows a schizophrenia patient and how her family mistreats her and takes wrong decisions about her future. Further worsening her symptoms. This drama is a must watch.

    Mushk

    Rating: 3.9/5
Cast: Urwa Hoccane, Momal Sheikh, Shamoon Abbasi

The great Imran Ashraf has written Mushk and has taken the lead role in the serial too. Clearly, this drama is gaining the spotlight it so perfectly deserves. Interestingly, the story is about a girl from a conventional Pakistani family who enjoys studying abroad. In short, while she has become open-minded, the truth is that her family is unchanged in every way.

    Dulhan

    Rating: 3.4/5
Cast: Sumbul Iqbal, Sami Khan, Shaheen Khan

when a young pretty girl rejects a suitor, he becomes furious and conspires against her. In addition, he does something very immoral and insane which ruins her life. But this is just the beginning.

    The Not List

    Sabaat

    Rating: 2.9/5
Cast: Marwa Hoccane, SarahKhan, Seemi Raheel, Laila Zuberi

Sabbat is packed with deep life lessons everyone needs to learn about. In my opinion, this drama serial started very nicely. However, it is dragging and the story is deviating from its core issue. Based on 865 public reviews, Sabbat deserves no more than 2.9 stars.

    Qurbatain

    Rating: 2.5/5
Cast: Anmol Baloch, Shehbaz Shigri, Komal Sajid

If friends stabbing in the back in a poor manner had a name, it would be Qurbatain. The story is typical, the acting skills are poor. Need I say more?

    Tera Ghum aur Hum

    Rating: 2.2/5
Cast: Zain Baig, Hajra Yamin, Azekah Daniel

Joint destiny between cousins? Another typical drama showing domestic issues. Two cousins marry the same dude and keep pushing eachother away from their husband. The cherry on top? A male family friend eyeing one of the girls! We need new inspirations. These ‘shaadi’ type dramas need to end.

    Tera Yahan Koi nahi

    Rating:2/5
Cast: Asad Sidiqui, Nadia Hussain, Savera Nadeem

A single mother and her daughter face hardships in the male dominant society. Apparently the story seems nice. However, when you watch the daily dose of sadness and drama, it just gets on your nerves.

Warning Signs That The Career You’re In Is Wrong for You

    0

Not everyone ends up in the correct career right off the bat, but some become so hypnotized by their current job that they never spot the warning signs that something was amiss. There’s no shortage of signs that you ended up in the wrong career, but spotting them can be difficult if you are still convincing yourself that the job you hold now is the best path for you. Did you know that, according to EdSurge, the average person will hold nearly 12 jobs by the time they are 50?

While these numbers may be less dramatic in countries like Pakistan where people prefer ‘job security’ over growth, this does prevent career dissatisfaction from being an endemic issue.

Should the career you have now be the product of many job hunts and years of experience, then it is more than likely that you may actually be in the right career. However, if you are still young or fresh into your career, it’s possible that the job you have now may not be the best career for you. Don’t allow the warning signs of a bad career match to pass you by without taking any action.

    Your Day-To-Day is Beyond Boring

No one ever said work would be the highlight of your day, but if you are consistently bored each day and none of the tasks assigned to you even remotely catch your interest, consider learning how to write a resignation letter. Your boredom with day-to-day tasks will either stem from a lack of skills being used to complete your work or the ease at which those tasks can be completed.

Regardless of the exact reason, staying in a career path that leaves you bored is no way to live your life. Work will make up most of your life, and the career you hold should excite you to your core. Now, keep in mind that not every day will interest you as much as the last, but you should be able to get excited about your job.

Consider looking into more career paths and doing some research on what certain jobs entail. What seems to be a good match for your skills or interests? Be sure to do sufficient research, however, as you don’t want to end up in a career that is just as bad as the one you escape.

You Constantly Look at Job Postings

A huge red flag that the job you’re in isn’t right for you is if you see yourself looking at job postings all the time. Whether it be jobs at your own companies or others, seriously looking at other jobs is indicative of the fact that you are not happy with your own career.

Clearly, you don’t believe that the job you have now is what you should be doing. When it comes to the best reasons for leaving a job, a lack of a challenge or recognition that there is a skill misalignment will show a certain level of personal introspection to new potential employers. It will also signify that you are a person who knows now what they want to do and that your time wouldn’t be wasted at a new career.

Focus on yourself and identify what it is that you actually want to do. If you wish to go into a job that requires technical skills that you don’t have, online degrees have never been easier to obtain due to technology. Consider taking the time to pursue a new education and launch the career that you aspire to.

You Don’t Know Where You’re Headed

Overall, a general lack of clarity on what direction you wish to head in is a big sign that you may be in the wrong career. Odds are, you did not guess the perfect career for yourself on the first try and the one you hold now is a mismatch for who you are.

Not knowing the career you want can be daunting and lead you to accept any opportunity that offers a salary. However, it’s important to slow down and ensure you are entering a job for the right reasons, rather than pure convenience.

    Conclusion

The warning signs that you are in the wrong career are easy to spot, but only if you are looking for them. Try not to fool yourself into believing that the job you have now is the best option, especially if you are still relatively new to the workforce. Being in the wrong career is a fate that occurs to many workers, but a fate that few of those workers ever escape. Don’t let yourself be deluded by a job that isn’t a fit for your skills and interests, and don’t stop searching until you find a job that fills you with passion.

The growing trend of fine dining and enjoying tiny portions for hefty amounts are increasing by the day. Interestingly, Lahore is still all about food. From enjoying your favorite juicy steaks indoor to relaxing on the charpai and slurping on ‘peray wali lassi’; Lahore has all sorts of foods to offer.

Nonetheless, the true essence of Lahori food lies in the tarkaas, masalas and everything Desi. Without further ado, here’s a cool list of Desi eateries Lahore offers for the foodie in all of you!

    Muhammadi Nahari House

If you are a true nihari lover, Muhamadi Nahari house is for you. fortunately, this place tops my Desi restaurant list because it serves the best warm, finger-licking-awesome nihari. The best part is how the taste is unaltered for decades.

Moreover, they are the pioneers of mutton Nihari, paye nihari and camel nihari. I ought to try camel nihari! If you ask me, my favorite is beef nalli nihari with their freshly baked milky naan.

Now you can visit Muhammadi Nahari house in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Faislabad, Gujranwala as well as in Murree.

    Waris Nihari

Firstly, the slowly cooked meat in creamy curry is all you need to set your mood right. Secondly, Waris Nihari located in old Lahore does it right. Interestingly, people from all walks of life, line up to enjoy this delicacy and everyone loves it.

Moreover, the price per plate is very affordable and the environment is truly ‘Dhaba style’. Varieties ranging from simple nihari to fried, nali and tarka are truly blissful. Haven’t tried it yet? Waris nihari should be your next stop for a scrumptious desi meal.

If you want to be a true Lahori, karahi is one dish you just cannot miss. Especially if it’s the famous Butt Karahi. Moreover, you will be hooked to the delicious taste within seconds. Surprisingly, the taste is still the same after years.

The thick pasty tomato masala and the marinated chicken tastes heaven when paired with freshly baked naan and parathas. Nonetheless, this eatery offers more desi dishes as well. Be sure to try them too.

    Spice Bazaar

In case you are not the ‘Dhaba’ roadside foodie type, Spice Bazaar is the right place to eat in. Spice Bazaar is a new venture by Yum (the best Chinese restaurant in Lahore). Again, Spice Bazaar has not disappointed its customers once.

The restaurant offers everything Desi. From mutton Kunna to Khoya beef kabab, chicken reshami kabab, and heavenly Peshawari chappal kabab; you name it, they have it.

I’d rate it 9/10 for a stylish desi dine in experience.

    Nisbat Road ke Gol Gappay

Have you ever had gol gappay? Gol gappay are small crispy fried puffballs that hold yogurt, chickpeas and other sauces together. You simply dip these balls in tamarind water and the goodness oozes out in your mouth. Yum!

For an extremely explosive gol gappa experience, visit the dude at Lakshmi Chowk, Lahore and enjoy plate after plate.

    Bundu Khan

The Bundu Khan restaurants were initiated by Rahim ud Din (late) decades ago. In sum, Bundu Khan has maintained its standard and taste all across the country. They offer a variety of Desi cuisines ranging from delicious BBQ, fried fish, karahis, handis, kababs, and whatnot.

BBQ is their specialty. Be sure to try it when you visit Bundu Khan restaurants.

    Siddique (model town)

The ultimate roadside experience turned into an outdoor restaurant setting, Siddique is one of its kind no one can miss out on. While they offer various desi dishes, I’d like to highlight their seek kabab.

Yes! Seekh kabab. Want to know whats unique about them? Significantly, the chef barbeques tasty seekh kababs and then chops them up in small pieces. They are served per plate and you get to enjoy the cut up kababs with 2 different chutnees and hot parathas.

This place is totally affordable and the experience is awesome. Moreover, be sure to have their special thuti kheer served in mud plates after your main course.

    Monal Lahore

The Monal restaurant is mainly popular in Islamabad as it is located on the margalla hills. While the original monal offers delectable food, the view is an extra plus which makes the overall experience a 10/10.

Since the demand grew, Monal simply had to come to the hub of foodies aka Lahore too. Interestingly, Monal Lahore has received TripAdvisor’s certificate of excellence. Beat that!

Dinner at Monal restaurant is awesome but what’s better is their desi breakfast buffet. They serve all sorts of desi dishes. From nihari to paye, from chollay to puris and what not; if you will love their buffet if you have a Desi appetite.

    Haveli restaurant

This eatery has a 4.5 rating and it comes with a view. What more can you ask for? Located in the heart of Lahore, you can eye the grand Badshahi Mosque throughout the day and eat in style.

Their top dishes include barbeque and chicken karahi. The service is great too. Want a full package? Visit Haveli and fall in love with Lahore again.

Zakir Tikka is another roadside restaurant that has earned its name over the years.Iit has slightly lost its quality in terms of food but their freshly baked garlic naan, kalonji naan, and Saada naan are still on point.

    Bhaye ke Kebab

How could our list be complete without Bheye Ke Kabab? These piping hot seekh kabab are totally worth the drive to model town.

One prime example would be where they stated that only the price of gold needs to be paid by customers. Which means no charges for making, and no charges for the precious stones! how cool is that? Best New Pakistani Dramas 2020

    0

The drama industry of Pakistan has grown in quite an exponential manner in recent times. Perhaps it’s the COVID which has kept us all within the confines of our homes. Plus watching Pakistani dramas has become quite a household hobby now. And for good reason too! The dramas being produced by Pakistan have become not only interesting but have also begun to incorporate topics that ought to be dragged into the limelight.

2020 has followed the recent trends and brought forward dramas that are really top-notch. Moreover, the best thing about them is that they seek to address important topics. Here’s a list of dramas you just cannot miss this year.

    Muhabbat Tujhe Alvida

Muhabbat Tujhe Alvida is a drama with a captivating storyline. Of course, any good drama that gains popularity the likes of muhabbat tujhe alvida, definitely has a storyline that is worth it. Abdul Khaliq Khan is the writer and Barkat Sidiki is the director.

Zahid Ahmed, Sonya Hussain, Mansha Pasha, and Javed Sheikh play their roles impeccably. Muhabbat tujhe alvida follows what some may call a typical storyline. However, while it revolves around a married couple, what’s interesting is the ‘2nd wife’ factor. Sonya Hussain (wife 1) wants status, money, and class. She asks her husband to marry a rich woman. interesting but weird!

The drama shows how different goals amongst a married couple can lead to quite a bit of challenge in life. So far, the drama has proven its mettle and is quite interesting.

    Sabaat

Directed by Shehzad Kashmir and produced by MominaDuraid, Sabaat is a drama with many layers and deep lessons. Definitely not something that can be titled as a light show, Sabaat is a tale of class, love, power, and loss, all merged into one captivating drama serial that will have you sitting at the edge of your seat for sure!

Interestingly, Sabaat highlights various important social issues. For instance, the prejudice that exists in Pakistan between distinct social classes has been brought to light in quite a convincing manner. Along with this, Sabaat showcases the topic of sexual harassment at the workplace in a visually understanding manner.

One thing that is especially laudable about the drama is that they have sought to bring forward strong female characters. This stands in sharp contrast to the majority of our drama serials which depict females as weak, flailing, and helpless creatures. In this aspect, the drama is a breath of fresh air!

    Kashf

Written by Imran Nazeer, and directed by Danish Nawaz, Kashf is one drama you can’t miss. Among the impeccable cast members are Hira Mani and Junaid Khan. Typically dramas revolve around the saas-bahu and other domestic issues. Kashf is unique.

interestingly, Kashf is remarkable in terms of the issues that it brings to the discussion table. Perhaps, these can even be classified as taboo. Kashf has the ability to dream about the future. Sadly, her father forces her to become a ‘Peerni’ to tell the masses about their future in an attempt to make money.

Secondly, in our country, we hold our parents in high esteem. Both religiously as well as socially. This provides refuge even to the likes of abusive parents such as Kashfs’ father. He tries to use his daughters’ abilities in order to surface out of the despairs of his financial troubles. A truly ingenious attempt to show society that parents too can be abusive and that this is a fact that needs to be accepted more openly.

Junaid Khan and Hira Maani are acting wonderfully. You guys should definitely watch it.

    Zebaish

Zebaish has been written by Bushra Ansari and directed by Iqbal Hussain. It’s star-studded cast includes Zara Noor Abbas, Asad Siddiqui, Asma Abbas, Zoya Nasir, and the maestro Bushra Ansari herself. Well, looking at the writer and the cast, we know this one’s going to be an absolute hit, don’t we?

The drama has done a wonderful job of highlighting the fact that in certain rural areas of Pakistan rulers and are free to do what they like. However, this is certainly not all. Along with this, the drama also seeks to show that in the pursuit of fame, people can deviate from their morals. Well, this has been shown in the light of a woman, but I would like to believe the intention was an application to everyone, regardless of gender, as it should be. Definitely an interesting drama, well worth the time!

Of course, the interests of everyone vary considerably. While some prefer to watch serious dramas in their off-time, others like to truly relax by viewing dramas which are easier going and considerably less intense. Here we’ve tried to put together a comprehensive list that has something for everyone!

Five Pakistani Dramas that are Popular in India

    0

We might not have the friendliest of relationships with our neighbor India, but it is an undeniable fact that we do share quite a lot of common interests. Especially as it pertains to the content watched on television. Logically, many of the drama series which have gained popularity amongst the viewers in Pakistan have also become favorites amongst the people of India. These are India’s favorite Pakistani drama series. Take a look below to find out.

    Humsafar

Humsafar is one of those dramas which has almost become a rite of passage. Seriously, every person you meet, you can definitely strike up an in-depth conversation about this drama. However, it is also one drama that is well-rounded and has gained perfection in just about every aspect. From the dialogues to the delivery to the impeccable storyline; to the stunning direction and exquisite attention to detail, there is absolutely no flaw!

The storyline of Humsafar follows the life of a young orphan girl. She is forced to marry her rich cousin as soon as her mother passes away. They get married and are happily living in their little bubble. However, of course, the mother of the guy cannot bear it. The mother-in-law concocts vicious plots. Moreover, introduces a jealous suiter to break them up.

Yes, the story sounds conventional. But once you watch the drama, you realize it is one that pulls at the heartstrings in a manner like none other can. It is a tale of immense strength and pride as played out by the female protagonist. She carries out her role in a manner so graceful, all of us can take a page out of her books! The ending too is just heart-warming. Although I won’t give away the ending, rest assured you won’t be disappointed if you decide to give it a go!

    Zindagi Gulzar Hai

If you want to stray far away from the typical storylines following the intricate complexities of the saas-bahu drama, look no further. Zindagi Gulzar Hai is an amazing drama series. It chooses to bring to light a somewhat realistic portrayal of the way relationships operate in the real life. Rather than bringing forward yet another beat-up story plot, the drama revolves around the life of a young, uber-talented yet utterly cynical girl and a guy from a well-to-do family.

Right about now, you’re probably thinking this is just another typical drama. But, moving forward, the drama zeroes in on the finer intricacies as they pertain to a married couple’s relationship. The drama is very distinct in the story it portrays. This is probably why it has gained so much popularity with our friends across the border as well. Moreover, who can miss lead actors like Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed acting side by side!

    Shehr-e-Zaat

Shehr-e-Zaat is a must watch! I believe it became everyone’s favorite because of its simplicity. The drama series has managed to come up with a storyline that is sure to resonate with just about everyone. The female protagonist (Mahira Khan) falls in love with Salman (Mikaal Zulfiqar). She is determined to marry him and she achieves this. However, her world splinters apart when she learns of the infidelity from her spouse.

This is when she comes to realize that worldly aspects and their materialistic elements aren’t where one’s attention and devotion should lie. Rather, it is the relationship with our Creator is what matters. Religion should chalk out the course of our life.

    Durr-e-Shehwar

This drama is a must watch, especially for the younger generation. We grow up looking at movies and other such paraphernalia, believing that marriage is smooth sailing. When we do get married and step into the practical life, it is rude awakening for many of us. Durr-e-Shehwar attempts to address the fact that marriage isn’t just a bed of roses. Rather, it is a relationship which requires considerable amount of effort and nurturance. It requires patience and a great deal of labor of love. In the prevailing environment where there is a lot of cynicism and generally a halo of negativity around the institute of marriage, this is definitely a drama worth watching.

    Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan

One of my personal favorites, meri zaat zarra-e-benishan is a drama that sticks with you in the peripheries of memories forever. It is a tragic story by all standards. It may even be called depressing by some standards. But, the story is totally out-of-the-box!

It is different from just about anything you have ever seen. It is also a story that resonates well given the current misconceptions about the manner in which a woman ought to conduct herself, a tale of how modesty and virtue may very well be used against a woman. This story about a mother and her daughter is a must-watch.

These dramas have become favorites across the border, and this is definitely a moment of pride for our country!

Five Alternative Places You Need to Visit in South Asia

    0

Needless to say, the ongoing global health crisis has posed great challenges to most, if not all, industries around the world. However, if there is one sector that seems to be taking the brunt of it all, that would most likely be global tourism. According to a recent article published by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNTWO), the near-complete lockdown responses of most governments to the pandemic caused a 98% decline in international tourist numbers last May. This monumental fall translated to over USD 320 billion (PKR 52 trillion) loss in revenue.

Fortunately, after months of being on lockdown, a lot of countries are finally opening their borders again, albeit with certain restrictions and regulations. While some countries are only accepting international tourists from specific nations, some are formulating travel bubbles. For instance, India has managed to slate air bubble arrangements with Canada, Maldives, the UAE, the US, the UK, France, and Germany. Still, despite all these, many are still hesitant about traveling to far-off places. So why not take this time to explore destinations closer to home? That said, here are five alternative places you can visit in South Asia.

    Utheemu, Maldives

In March, after recording its first two cases, the Maldivian government promptly closed its national borders and canceled all flights to and from the country. After four months, the island nation officially reopened to tourists of all nationalities. If you are thinking of going to the Maldives, consider visiting Utheemu. Located on the far northern reaches of the Haa Alif Atoll, this part of the Maldives not only boasts sparkling white sands and relaxing Indian Waves, but also lots of history.

    Nek Chand Saini, India

ExpatBets, an online magazine that brings the latest news in Asia, highlights Nek Chand Saini as one of the best places to see in India, and it’s easy to see why. The tourist destination boasts exquisite sculpture gardens that will surely take your breath away. The whole garden was skillfully crafted by lower-level government inspector Nek Chand, who began assembling rocks and pieces of trash back in the 1960s. Back then, Nek Chand’s masterpieces could have been destroyed for its illegality but was saved because of how amazed his superiors were with his work.

    Athirapalli, India

If you like basking in the beauty of nature and find great joy in splashing around water, Athiraplli would be the perfect South Asian destination for you. Known as the Niagara Falls of India, Culture Trip detailed how Athiraplli’s flowing water will definitely soothe your nerves and calm you — something we could all definitely use today.

    Pokhara, Nepal

Perfect for those who love outdoor adventures such as trekking and hiking, Pokhara is a wonderful spot to relax, before or after a trip to the mountains. Despite being the second-largest city in the country, Pokhara was able to preserve and maintain its countryside vibe — complete with the fresh clean air and the cluster of small-scale hotels, restaurants, and shops around Lake Phewa.

    Lake Saif-ul-Malook, Pakistan

At the northern extreme of the Kaghan Valley lies the stunning Lake Saif-ul-Malook. Surrounded by majestic mountains that cast unique shadows and reflections on the lake’s waters, your trek to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province within the Mansehra District will definitely be worth it. According to Traveling Lifestyle, a creative magazine and blog about traveling the world, the best time to visit this breathtaking destination is during the summer months when the heavy snows that make the roads slippery are nowhere to be found.

Ease your troubles and worries by visiting these magnificent places that can all be found scattered across the culture-rich countries of South Asia. To keep yourself updated with the latest trends regarding travel, food, pop culture, and more, explore the rest of CurryFlow.com.

Quranic Verses that Show Islam is About Peace

    0

Islam has attracted quite a lot of attention recently. However, not all of it has been positive. Rather, a lot of attention has been focused upon negative aspects such as terrorism which have attached themselves to the beautiful religion that is Islam. Of course, the only way this can be dealt with is by delving deeper into the folds of religion and attempting to gain a deeper understanding.

We need to understand Islam. Today I want to take this opportunity and tell you all that Islam is all about peace.

    Teachings for War

[2:190] “You may fight in the cause of GOD against those who attack you but do not aggress. GOD does not love the aggressors.”

The Quranic verse mentioned above is quite clear in its teachings. Fighting is unfavorable in the court of Allah. Unless you are fighting in the cause of Allah’s teachings. Interestingly, even the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), has given explicit instructions to be followed in the advent of war.

For instance, cutting of trees, harming women, children or old people, destroying temples or churches, enforcing Islam and other such acts have been strictly forbidden. Moreover, through the implementation of these principles even the act of war has been rendered to something much more humane.

    Forgiveness

[2:192] “If they refrain, then GOD is a Forgiver, Most Merciful.”

To err is human, this much is for sure. However, perhaps one of the most enchantingly beautiful things about our religion and about Allah is the aspect of forgiveness. Even after spending an entire life in transgressions, if we were to repent with true sincerity, Allah Almighty would forgive us Insha Allah, as is evident from the Quranic verse above.

    Treatment of the Poor

[76:8-9]”And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him (saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you.”

This Quranic verse is an embodiment of the teachings of the Quran that encourage Muslims to ensure they look after those who are less fortunate. Indeed, one of the main principles of Islam is charity. However, the intentions are very significant in the reward granted by Allah and this should never be forgotten.

[2:195] “And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.” – Al Baqara

    Free Will

[2/ 256] “There is no compulsion where the religion is concerned.”

In direct contrast to the image being portrayed around the world, Islam is a religion in which free will of every individual is held in high regard. Muslims are bound by the teachings of Islam mentioned in both Quran and sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to ensure they do not enforce their own beliefs on anyone else. Moreover, this isn’t confined to the imposition of teachings of Islam upon Muslims alone. In fact, Muslims are forbidden to impose the religion of Islam on non-Muslims as well.

[Surat al-Ma’ida, 48] “We have appointed a law and a practice for every one of you. Had God willed, He would have made you a single community, but He wanted to test you regarding what has come to you. So compete with each other in doing good. Every one of you will return to God and He will inform you regarding the things about which you differed.”

The Quranic verse mentioned above shows immense importance placed by Islam on both freedom of thought and free will.

How their stories build while supporting characters pave their appearance in the drama is truly worth watching. This iconic drama series had a prequel named ‘Sunehrey Din’ which is also worth a watch. Additionally, ABC is recorded in Urdu and Pashto, both being Pakistani languages.

    Dhoop Kinarey (1987)

Dhoop Kinarey was an extremely original serial which was truly inspirational back in 1987. The drama made a solid place instantly as it revolved around the lives of different doctors, how they crossed paths while showcasing glimpses of their personal lives as well.

    Humsafar 2011

    Genre: Romance and Drama

Humsafar is my favorite Pakistani drama because it is the epitome of decent romance and has the perfect amount of emotional tarka! Moreover, since Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan are acting side by side, giving us all ideal ‘couple goals’, what more can one ask for from a Pakistani drama.

Humsafar aired in 2011 and took the Pakistani media industry by the storm. After all, it has the perfect blend of love, romance, jealousy, drama and everything else you can ask for. It is available on Netflix. Go binge watch it now.

    Pyarey Afzal 2013

    Genre: Romance and Drama

Pyarey Afzal has a super star cast and an amazingly experienced producer Nadeem Baig behind its success. Moreover, since Khalil ur Rehman has written it from scratch, you can well imagine its beautiful story. It is full of twists and interesting plots.

The story revolves around two neighbors who fall in love but cannot be together due to class difference. Additionally, since Salahuddin (Hamza Ali Abbasi) cannot express his feelings ideally, how can Munnu (Ayza Khan) make the first move?

    Udaari 2016

    Genre: Psychological and musical

Udaari was a ground breaking Pakistani drama serial because it showcased a tabooed topic beautifully while keeping all sorts of audience in mind. Additionally, since the storyline was powerful, daring and bold, it immediately became the center of attention.

    Besharam 2016

    Genre: Romance and action

A six Sigma production which has an 8.5 IMDB rating should definitely be on your watch list. Besharam became the star of ARY channel in 2016 because the production team worked really hard to turn it into a raging success.

A rich model tying the knot with a poor politician was enough for viewer attention. However, as the story unraveled, we discovered how a true love story has no boundaries and how two people can go to any lengths to be together.

    KhudGharz (2017)

    Genre: Psychological

This drama is a true depiction of relationships between people, how feelings play a vital role and how it all has a psychological effect. Mansha Pasha, Sami Khan and Aminah Sheikh are the lead characters of the serial. Need I say more!

    Mere paas tum ho (2019)

    Genre: romance, betrayal and drama

This is another perfect Six Sigma production that is directed by Nadeem Baig. You guys can imagine how much hype this drama created when it was airing weekly. Apparently, this drama broke all the drama ratings and topped the charts instantly.

The drama showed stellar acting by Humayun Saeed, Ayza Khan and Adnan Sidique. It also proved us all how women can fall in an extramarital affair, leading to a divorce, only to lose it all later.

    Alif  2019

    Genre: Journey based drama

Alif gained the spotlight in 2019 due to its out-of-the-box plot, an original storyline and everyone’s ace acting skills. Hamza Ali Abbasi and Sajjal Ali played the lead roles and stole the audience’s hearts right away.

The drama serial shows two different journeys of a film-maker and a struggling actress. The story builds when they both cross paths and things start to unfold.

Sadly I haven’t had the pleasure to watch it. However, I’ve only read good reviews and my friends cannot stop recommending it to me! It’s on my watch list and should be on yours too.

    Pyar ke Sadqey (2020)

    Genre: romance, comedy and drama

Pyar ke Sadqey has to be the cutest Pakistani drama 2020. When two social misfits fall in love, get married and later separated is when you find out that special people with mental disorders also have feelings. Apparently the story is about two naïve, quirky, shy and funny people.

If you crave a drama with a light, fun-loving storyline, this drama is for you.

3 Hair Care Remedies Pakistani Office Goers Should Know

    0

We hear you Pakistan! Hair is an essential part of our identity, but we don’t get much time to follow a strict hair care regimen.

As a professional, irrespective of the gender, we face difficulty in maintaining work-life balance. So, when it comes to hair-care, we want something that requires low maintenance and gives quick results.

But the question is, how to squeeze time for hair-care with a busy schedule?

Managing one’s hair routine is especially difficult in countries like Pakistan, where dirt and grime can make the job extra difficult.

    Without further ado, let’s explore.

Aloe Vera: Your Eco-Friendly Hair Product

This tip is a wash-and-go type that will improve your hair in the longer run.

Aloe vera, also called the plant of immortality, possesses healing properties. As its name suggests, its benefits are far and wide, and it is used extensively in medicine, health, beauty, and personal care products.

When used for hair-care, they not only strengthen your hair, make scalp healthier, clean the hair follicles, but prevent any blockage that leads to thinning hair.

This happens because it contains proteolytic enzymes that help in the regeneration of dead skin cells on the scalp.

    How to use Aloe vera?

If you have the raw plant, scoop out the white and slimy gel from inside the leafy green part and use it as a hair mask before taking a shower. You can let it sit in your hair for an hour or two and rinse the gel off with a mild shampoo.

You can also style your hair with this eco-friendly gel without damaging your hair with other harsh chemicals. Since it is transparent, you can leave it in your hair without worrying about washing it off.

If you do not have the plant nor do time to extract the gel, get Saeed Ghani aloe vera gel that is easily accessible in markets, or order it online.

    C:\Users\D-ALI COMPUTER\Downloads\aloe-vera-2417091_1920.jpg

Take the required amount according to your hair length and rub aloe vera extracts in your hair’s roots, rinse off the gel giving at least 10-20 mins. Repeating this method every after three days will leave your hair smooth and shiny.

Benefits of applying Aleo vera on hair

    • Provide protein treatment just like Keratin
    • Relax an itchy scalp
    • Clean oil from hair
    • Repair hair strands and cuticles
    • Promotes hair Growth
    • Gives Shine
    • Provide elasticity
    • Prevent hair fall and breakage

    Mayonnaise: Your Hair Conditioner

This tip is super easy to follow and drives the results home. For many, this may be interesting or shocking, depending on how you look at it; but mayonnaise makes an exceptional deep hair conditioning mask.

Since mayonnaise is made up of egg and oil, it contains a high amount of protein, which is essential for hair growth. For ideal results, use once or twice in the week.

    How to use mayonnaise?

Take a bowl and beat plain mayonnaise (make sure it does not have spices or any additional flavor) with an egg until it forms a creamy and fluffy puree. It’s okay if you don’t have an egg. You can still apply the mayonnaise directly.

Apply and coat this preconditioner mask on your hair. If you’d like, you can cover your hair with a shower cap or a plastic bag. Leave your hair for 15-20 minutes, at least.

How to do a Mayonnaise Hair Treatment at Home?

Wash off the mask with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo. (Pro tip: Buy a shampoo that is sulphate acid-free)

If you are running out of time and want clean and healthy-looking hair, then apply for some minutes and rinse it off. But for better results, you can leave the mayonnaise mask on your hair overnight.

For a quality product, I recommend treating your hair locks with Young’s or Mitchells’ mayo. In addition, making mayonnaise at home is easy, if you want.

Benefits of applying Mayonnaise on Hair

    • Add shine
    • Strengthen the hair follicles
    • Moisturize your hair
    • Help in growth
    • Reduces the coloring effect
    • Reverse the heat damage
    • Calm your itchy scalp

After washing your hair with shampoo, pour the rice water into your hair or spray the water gently on your hair’s roots and scalp. Leave your hair for 10-20 minutes. After the wait, rinse your hair with tap water.

He initiated his acting career from a cool sitcom ‘Jutt and Bond’. Afterward, he formed a famous alternative rock band named Entity Paradigm, famously known as EP. While he was the lead singer, his sitcom co-stars were the other band members.

EP saw a boom in early 2000’s and their album Irtiqa became everyone’s favorite car cruise songs on repeat. Later, Khan aced his first feature film ‘Khuda ke liye’ by Shoaib Mansoor. Afterward, he kept adding successful dramas, movies, commercials and modeling shoots for renowned brands under his belt.

His top accomplishments are Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Bollywood’s Khoobsurat as well as Kapoor and Sons.

Fawad Khan has won numerous awards and is still working in the media industry.

    Mahira Khan

It will not be an exaggeration if I say that Mahira Khan is ruling the Pakistani industry since years. Indeed, she is one of the biggest stars on Pakistani TV since she aced the role of Khirad in Humsafar (drama series by Momina Duraid).

Surprisingly, Mahira Khan began her journey as a VJ in 2006.  Later, in 2011 she appeared in her first feature film ‘Bol’ and gained the spotlight instantly. Same year, she did her first drama series Humsafar and became the talk of the town. Then onwards, Mahira Khan climbed the ladder to success and stardom and has stood her ground since.

    Fahad Mustafa

Fahad Mustafa is another gifted actor who can easily make the cut for biggest stars on Pakistani TV. Currently, he is hosting a game show (Jeeto Pakistan) on ARY Digital. It’s my favorite show!

Apparently, he has worked in various drama series, motion pictures, and feature films. Additionally, he has also produced a dozen shows under the banner of Big Bang Entertainment. He will always be remembered because of Namaloom Afrad and Main Abdul Qadir Hoon. He is witty, funny and cool.

    Ahsan Khan

Ahsan Khan was born in 1981 in London, England. Interestingly, he stepped in the media industry when he was just 17 years old. His comfort zone includes hosting reality shows such as Bol Nights with Ahsan Khan and Ramadan transmissions.

However, he recently won an award for choosing a villainous role in Udaari and rightly so. He was cruel and his dialogue delivery was great.

Ahsan Khan has been a part of the Pakistani television since 1998 and we believe he still has a long journey ahead of him.

    Saba Qamar

Beautiful, elegant and decent are a few words that describe Saba Qamar best. Apparently, she is one of the highest earning actresses of our industry. Moreover, she was awarded with the prestigious ‘Tamgha-e-Imtiaz’ in 2012. She has also won a dozen Lux style awards, PTV awards and Hum TV awards. Beat that!

It is safe to say that Saba Qamar is an outstanding actor who is skillful, has a perfect dialogue delivery and screen presence.

    Zahid Ahmed

I know Zahid Ahmed from a stage play in Islamabad directed by Shah Sharabeel, named ‘The Phantom of the Opera’. He made his stage debut in 2006 and played loads of stage shows. He had A-plus acting skills back then, and now that he has became a professional Pakistani actor, you can well imagine what his skill set allows him to do!

The dude used to be a RJ in 2002. I still remember listening to his shows on my way to the university. Later, he became a professional voice-over artist and Sultana Sidiqui herself asked him to join the media industry. Hence, he made his drama debut in 2014 and gained utter recognition and love from his audience.

He recently played a difficult role with split-personality in Ishq Zahe Naseeb and won everyone’s hearts. Checkout a powerful scene and witness his outstanding acting skills.

    Hira Mani

Hira Mani was a VJ in 2010 and she jumped to become a TV host at Hira Mani show a year later. Interestingly, Hira made her acting debut alongside her husband Mani in 2013 and the couple became super hit.

Hira Mani is a superb drama actor who really gels in all her roles. If you haven’t seen her dramas, go watch Kashf, Ghalati , Do Bol and Bandish.

    Sajal Aly

Sajal Aly made her on-screen debut in 2009 in the drama series ‘Nadaniyan’. However, her role was small. Apparently, a 2015 drama production ‘Khuda dekh raha hai’ made her high-flying and then onwards she played prominent lead roles in feature films and Pakistani dramas.

The cute actress has won 5 awards for best actress and best onscreen couple with Bilal Abbas.

Additionally, Sajal Aly tied the knot with Aad Raza Mir this year and celebrated a small, quarantine wedding in the light of Covid-19.

    Ayeza khan

Ayeza Khan is known as the beauty of the Pakistani media industry and I agree with it. She is charming, decent, sweet and easy to work with. However, her real name is Kinza Khan and she is married to Danish Taimur, who is also an actor.

She began her career as a supporting actress in various drama series from 2009. However, she landed her first lead role in Tootey Huye Per (2011) and gained the spotlight. Her highlighting performances include Pyarey Afzal, Mere paas tum ho and Mere Mehrbaan.

    Sanam Jung

Sanam Jung stepped in the media industry in 2008 as a VJ while she was studying for her BBA. 2 years later, she made her debut in Dil e Mumtaz and won the Hum Award for the best television sensation (female).

She shines bright on the television screen with her natural talent and I simply love how flawlessly she delivers all her dialogues. Additionally, she hosted the Hum TV morning show (Jaago Pakistan Jaago) for years. Above all, she is a wonderful mother and balances her work and family life tremendously.

    Iqra aziz

Iqra Aziz is bubbly, funny, and super cute. She recently became one of the biggest stars of Pakistani TV because of her impressive screen presence. Sadly, she lost her father at a young age and was raised by her mother single-handedly.

In an interview, she mentioned how difficult it was for the family of 3 to sustain a good living standard because of the financial crisis.

Iqra Aziz entered the industry as a commercial model at the age of 14 and paved her way into dramas. Choti si Zindagi, Suno Chanda and Ranjha Ranjha Kardi are her top Hum TV drama series.

    Hania Amir

Hania Amir is a 23 year old newcomer in the Pakistani media industry. Surprisingly, Hania made the cut in an extraordinary way. In sum, she uploaded various Dubsmash videos on her social media accounts, which caught Imran Kazmi’s (producer) eye. Thus, they got acquainted and he cast her in his film Janaan in 2016.

All the fans fell in love with Hania’s innocent face, her natural acting talent and that began her career. Later, she opted for 5 other feature films and a dozen drama series.

Amazingly, Hania has already scored 2 big awards at such a young age. We all feel she will do wonders in this industry.
